What to look forward to at 19 weeks pregnant.

You're one week away from being half way through a full term pregnancy! Here's what to expect at 19 weeks pregnant.

Baby's development

Your baby’s skin is covered in vernix. This is a greasy, white, cheese like coating that protects their skin from being wrinkled at birth.

The lungs are developing with the main airways beginning to form this week.

Have you felt baby kick yet? you should be feeling those little flutters soon if you haven’t already!

Moms body development

19 weeks pregnant means you are in month 5 of pregnancy. Only 4 more months to go!

Baby is roughly 6 inches long and weighs just over half a pound. Baby’s gone through a growth spurt! This one of many baby will go through.

Along with your back hurting and aching, you are probably starting to get leg and calf pains during the night. The worst time to get them. This pain usually radiates up and down your calves. These pains are common during the second and third trimester of pregnancy.

Common symptoms

Increased appetite- Having a hard time staying out of the kitchen? By now you should up your daily calorie intake by roughly 300 calories. These extra calories should be healthy. Don’t feel bad for indulging a little to curb the cravings.  Just make sure not to over do it, or to hold off the craving. Holding off can lead to over indulging.

Stretch marks- About 90% of women get stretch marks during pregnancy. There is research proving that if your mother had stretch marks its common you will get them. Of course you can help your skin by applying stretch mark cream to help your body stretch through pregnancy.

Faintness or dizziness- As your uterus is growing it put pressure on your blood vessels. This restricts the flow of blood to your brain leading you to feel faint or dizzy of you stand up too fast.

Back aches- As your stomach starts to grow your center of gravity will start to shift forward, putting extra pressure on your lower back. Allow others to list heavy objects for you.

Stuffy nose- Swelling in your nasal passages are making it harder to breath. Safely blow your nose by covering one side and gentlying blowing the other.
