Pregnant with a 2-month-old.

Irish twins? I never saw this coming! Find out how I found out and how I juggle new motherhood with a new pregnancy right after.

One pregnancy to another.

My son was born on Christmas eve, 2022. Nine weeks later I found out I was pregnant again.

I had to get tested by my doctor to confirm pregnancy. The weird thing? I never had a period. From that, they went off of the birth of my son assuming I was 9 weeks pregnant. I had to go get an early ultrasound to confirm pregnancy and viability along with an estimated due date. (Ultrasound above with wrong gestation estimate)

The place I go to seems to never have the doctor on sight. Instead, he calls me to tell me what may be of concern if any showup. I got the call and they told me I was 7 weeks exactly in the ultrasound above, and the baby looks healthy, and it seems to be a very viable pregnancy. They want me back at 12 weeks to check the back of baby’s neck.

Irish Twins

As I slowly started to tell the family of my new pregnancy with a barely 2-month-old, I kept getting concerning comments about preterm labor happening again.

If you followed my last pregnancy you know that I choose to go through a nurse practitioner instead of an OB-GYN. I choose this option because I feel my nurse spends so much more time with me compared to the OB-GYN that I went through.  Personally, I felt the OB would find the heartbeat, record it, and set up my next appointment. I never really got time to ask the OB questions. I was always asking the medical assistants.

With my last checkup, it’s been talked about going on baby aspirin, and hormone shots. These are the possible preventative measures that we might take to prevent pre-term labor from happening again.

Being 'High Risk'

High risk in pregnancy means that the likely hood of complications is higher than normal.

During my first pregnancy, I was seen every 4 weeks until I was 30 weeks, then it became every other week. My last visit was 3 weeks prior to me going into labor.

With this pregnancy, I am being seen every other week to check on things, along with more ultrasounds to be performed to check the baby’s growth.

Cravings

I have been going crazy for salty foods! When pregnant with my son I couldn’t get enough sweets. Now I can’t stand sweets.

My biggest craving this week has been Funyuns (< affiliate link)
