Bed rest in pregnancy is usually to prevent a miscarriage or to stop or slow something that may be affecting the baby. In my situation, I have been passing blood clots. This puts me and the baby at risk for what’s called a threatened miscarriage. A threatened miscarriage is where there is abnormal bleeding, and abdominal pain but the pregnancy still continues.
This is what the hospital told me freaking me and my husband out. I watched the color go from my husband’s face as the doctor is telling us that I really need to rest or I’m losing this baby. Our baby. I was broken to pieces feeling like I’m doing something wrong to my body and the baby. The whole drive home I kept weeping in and out of my prayers. I have been upset about losing a loved one but I can’t even explain how shallow I felt when trying to figure out if Im okay with what is happening. Regardless I have to be okay with what God decides for me and our future family.
This is such a hard question to answer because you can be put on bed rest at any point in your pregnancy. Im currently 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and on full bed rest remainder of the pregnancy or until the bleeding stops completely for a week. This includes spotting until it’s time for the birth. (Spotting is an indicator for birth time!) So how do we survive being in bed all day?

Oh boy, im always looking for new things to add to my baby registry! Since im so early I try to keep gender-neutral items until we are more aware of what we’re going to have!
I love to go on TikTok and look up ‘newborn essentials’. This is why my baby registry has almost 200 items on it…oops!
With all this downtime iv been going back to Disney+ and rewatching Recess the cartoon. This is the time to catch up on your favorite show! I’m blessed with a husband who works from home so I don’t spoil anything because he’s there watching it with me!
***DO NOT TAKE A HOT BATH ONLY WARM*** You do not want to raise your body temperature. Take a warm bath (under 100’F) to help relax your muscles. Its recommended to not soak for more than 10 minutes.
Read a book, or catch up
I love reading pregnancy books! your local library will have tons! Added bonus: your significant other can drop it off when you’re done!
As my family has slowly found out I’m pregnant and the ‘bed rest’ iv been getting asked A LOT if I need anything or if I’m craving something. I can not express how much the help I’m being provided comes in handy! My husband has taken the biggest workload and I can’t thank him enough for it. My mother-in-law is the one that has been directing me and helping me understand the pregnancy and what’s going on with my body. If it wasn’t for her, I don’t think I would have gone to the ER the second time. I do feel hopeless at times but I would rather feel a little hopeless knowing that it allows the baby to grow.
This is my baby registry that I’m always adding to! If you purchase something from here it will get sent to me! Thank you for all of your support during this hard time! Advice is always appreciated and accepted! God bless you and your littles!
