Daily Routines That Keep Chaos Under Control With 3 Kids Under 3

Struggling with 3 kids under 3? Here's my daily routine with toddlers and baby that keeps chaos under control and makes life smoother.

Creating a Stress-Free Morning

It’s no secret that having several small children can be very crazy in the morning. You have diapers to change, nighttime bottles to find, and most of all, your children are hungry. How are you going to handle all of this? It can be very chaotic, but it can also be very simplified and easy to handle. I have made a routine of waking up earlier than my children. This allows me time to wash my face, start coffee, and start breakfast. Im very lucky that my kids eat about the same three things in the morning. I usually cook and plate so when they wake up my two toddlers get diaper changes and sit down to eat right away. As my children are eating, this allows time for me to get the baby woken up, changed, and laid down in the living room for tummy time. (She’s 7 months currently and almost crawling)

Doing this every morning has allowed me to create such a structured morning that never fails for us to start an easy day.

Organizing Meals Between Play

We are a family of 5, so I have a general idea of what my family will be eating for the day and week. I usually go off what my husband says he would like to eat, but we also go shopping once a week.

I keep breakfast and dinner as our large meals for the day, allowing my kids to snack as they want, or if they are seeming more hungry for a meal, I will make something small to eat. Most recently, iv been doing snack plates for my toddlers. I will try to do one new thing to see if they like it, but also provide lots of favorites, so they have options they love. I was able to get my kids to try guava for the first time.

Keeping Bedtime Calm

As you can imagine, putting three children to bed can be insane. We have perfected bedtime down.

We start by sending out the warning about 20 minutes prior and reminding every 5 minutes that it’s bedtime. During that time, I get all 3 bottles ready and choose 2-3 books that we will read for the night. All the kids give kisses goodnight to everyone, and the twins head off to brush their teeth with Dad while I take the baby and put her down. This is when I give her a bottle and tuck her in. The twins will finish brushing their teeth and come to their beds to read books. We will give kisses goodnight, and I will lie with them until they are asleep.

I quickly became a mother of three under three, and I would never change that for the world. I am forever grateful that God has provided me with an ever-loving husband and three small humans to share our life values with.
