Why Homemade?

Homemade is amazing to be able to say with something you cook. Doughnuts have been something that I would struggle in the past with because I would over do the flour to milk mixture making a gloppy mess. With the years iv gotten better about being able to knead dough and not add too much flour making your dough become dry and crumbly. I love to be able to cook something that looks amazing and add that its homemade so you know theirs effort in it!

Ingredients

  • 2 heaping cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 cup of bleached baking flour
  • 1 1/3 cup of Whole Milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons of butter, softened to room temp

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl combine 2 heaping cups of all purpose flour, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1 & 1/3 cup of whole milk, and 2 tablespoons of soft butter.
  • With a silicone spatula, slowly add in 1 cup of bleached baking flour into mixture to form a dough.
  • Once dough has been formed, sprinkle unbleached baking flour on a baking mat or counter space that is clean. Knead dough for 2 minutes. This forms gluten in the dough and allows our bread to get fluffy and beautiful.
  • Form 1.5 inch spheres from all of the dough.
  • With a lightly dusted work space, one daugh piece at a time, roll them out to 1/4 inch. Use a small cup mouth and push down in the middle of your flat dough making a circle. Thus forming your first dough-doughnut & dough-doughnut hole. Complete with remainder of dough.
  • In a pan, pour 1/2 inch of oil and warm to a low heat. Oil is ready when dough piece bubbles and cooks. Oil is too hot if splashing, loud popping, or dough is burning in under 30 seconds!!!
  • Place dough-doughnut holes into pan until full but not crowded. Fry until bottom of dough is starting to lightly brown (30-40 seconds) Flip to repeat to other side.
  • Once cooked place on a paper towel lined plate until pan is empty.
  • In a bowl with granulated sugar, place 1-2 pieces in the bowl and coat in sugar. Place on finishing dish
  • Repeat process with Dough-doughnuts.

You can always add your own topping your own flare to the recipe! Share with us how it came out!
